Well, for my first blog ever, I figured there is no better topic than the word that seems to be surrounding my life these days. Whether it be motivating myself, my athletes or my students, I feel as though I am almost overusing this word daily. Unfortunatly, in the busy winter season, I seem to be lacking motivation for myself.
I've never really faced this lack of self motivation before, growing up an athlete I was always running around or being forced to run for the drive to be successful in my sport. Now that I have moved from not only player to coach but also player to fan, as I have a younger brother starting his high school basketball career, I can't find the time or energy to exercise during this basketball season. It has never been a matter of only exercising when told, I enjoy going for runs on my own and in college my roommates said I went to the gym too much. The question is, how do I get myself going again?
For the next two weeks, I am going to stop with the excuses and stop defending my excuses. I am tired and busy, but everyone is. I need to stop making excuses and get myself back to the one thing that destresses me. This my pledge and I will blog about my self motivation technique and how to truly fit exercise into a busy 10- 14 hour work day.
Your determination is motivating! thanks for the invite Steph
ReplyDeleteI wish I could say that for myself, I am exhausted running a group home by myself with 14 employees and 7 group home residents. I am constantly running around and not know what is up from down. Good luck this semester.

Good subject! I've actually used business as an excuse for several months now! I did start back to walking just this week! My relocation to a warmer climate was a bit of motivation though. I've been seeing people 20-30yrs older than me walking, riding, jogging here(Lake Havasu City, AZ is the retirees paradise)...basically I have no excuse if they can do it!!!! Actually they have nothing else to do but I won't let that deter me!!! I'll be following you!
ReplyDeleteas much as i love to exercise, im finding that the hardest part is getting myself going again! Good luck with keeping it up yourself!
